3.1.1.2. The ESI mode of operation shall provide axial ambient temperature nebulizing gas and heated auxiliary evaporating gas introduced after nebulization. The wetted flow path in the ion source shall remain at ambient temperature. It shall be possible to heat the auxiliary evaporating gas to at least 750°C or generate conditions capable of completely evaporating LC effluent flowing at 3.0 ml/min without splitting or boiling the effluent in the capillary electode.
3.1.1.3. The APCI mode of operation shall provide axial evaporating gas heated to at least 750°C. The APCI mode shall be capable of completely evaporating LC effluent flowing at 3.0 ml/min without splitting or boiling the effluent in the capillary electode.
3.1.2. Mass Spectrometer Interface:
3.1.2.1. The ion axis shall be orthogonal to the axis of the sprayer in the ion source. The interface shall supply counter-current curtain gas from the interface to prevent introduction of contaminants to the mass analyzer.
3.1.2.2. All interface apertures shall be concentric with the ion axis. To minimize the frequency of cleaning and plugging of the interface the maximum enclosed path of any interface component shall be as short as possible.
3.1.2.3. It shall be possible to remove all interface components without the use of tools.
3.1.3. Mass Analyzer:
3.1.3.1. The mass analyzer shall be a high performance linear triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass analyzer with a high performance collision cell and a linear ion trap or equivalent to achieve the specification below.
3.1.3.2. The mass analyzer shall be capable of the following minimum performance specifications:
