3.1.1.1. The GC shall be equipped with a capillary split/splitless and a Multimode inlet.

Injection port shall have electronic pneumatic control.

3.1.1.2. Injection port pressure set points shall be able to be adjusted by increments of 0.001 psi, with typical control ± 0.001 for the range 0.000 to 99.999 psi; 0.01 psi for the range 100.00 psi to 150.00 psi

3.1.1.3. The split/splitless injection port shall be designed to operate in the gas saver mode.

3.1.1.4. The Multimode Inlet shall be able to be operated as a standard split/splitless capillary injection port or a PTV (programmable temperature vaporizing) injection port.

3.1.1.5. The Multimode (MMI) inlet shall have at least ten temperature ramps and be able to accept injections up to 250 uL.

3.1.1.6. The Multimode inlet shall have solvent elimination calculation software to provide starting parameter to aid in developing the analysis.

3.1.1.7. Multi-mode inlet shall be able to be used to cryo-focus the samples at the head of the analytical column.

3.1.1.8. “Turn top inlets” which require no tools for basic injection port maintenance shall be standard on both the Split/splitless and Multimode Inlets.

3.1.1.9. The Gas Chromatograph’s oven temperature set point resolution shall be 0.1 degree

C.

3.1.1.10. The GC oven shall be able to operate at a temperature range of 4C above ambient to 450C.

3.1.1.11. GC Oven shall support 20 oven ramps with 21 plateaus. Negative ramps shall also be available for the operator.

3.1.1.12. GC oven shall be able to compensate for barometric pressure and ambient temperature changes. This reduces the influence of environmental factors retention time repeatability. Methods remain stable when atmospheric pressure changes.

3.1.2. Mass Spectrometer Detector:

3.1.2.1. Mass Spectrometer detector shall have capability for synchronous SIM/Scan mode

3.1.2.2. HED-EM Detector with signal-to-noise specification (1 pg OFN, 400:1)

3.1.4. Data System:

3.1.4.1. It shall be capable of maintaining temperature from 10°C below ambient to 80°C with the stability of ± 0.5 °C when water is being pumped at a flow rate of 5 ml/min.

3.1.4.2. The system shall be able to automatically create a SIM method from the scan data file of an injected standard.

3.1.4.3. The data system shall provide the tools needed to “lock” a retention time to a reference value even when the column is clipped for maintenance. The locked method is transferable to other GC’s to give the same retention times.

3.1.4.4. Databases consisting of locked retention times and spectra shall be provided with the system. The Pesticide Endocrine disrupter and Hazardous compound database are necessary to assist in identification of unknowns.

3.1.4.5. Deconvolution reporting software shall be available for the system to accurately identify and quantify trace components that coelute with other analytes.
