PART 3 – DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/WORK STATEMENT
3.1. Background and Objectives:
The FDA needs to Upgrade four (4) Existing Velos Systems to four (4) Velos Pro Ultra-High Sensitivity Dual Pressure Linear Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer (LCIMS) Systems, one each for Pacific Regional Lab-Southwest (PRLSW), Kansas District Lab (KAN Lab), Southeast Regional Lab (SRL) and Denver District Lab (DEN Lab).
3.2. Salient Performance Specifications. The Four Upgrade Packages, shall each include:
3.3.Upgrade from Velos to Velos Pro hardware/software
3.3.1. Software upgrade that allows for peak scanning up to 66kDa/sec (which represents a fourfold increase in ion isolation and a threefold increase in ion fragmentation over the Velos).
3.3.2. Hardware configuration change/upgrade consisting of ion optics (addition of an "S-Lens" (improves sensitivity) and addition of a rotated quadrupole and a beam blocker (improves robustness) configuration and physical changes and an accompanying software change which together improve the sensitivity of the instrument up to two to four fold over the Velos depending upon analyte compound matrix effects.
3.3.3. New EM and high current electrometer detection board (hardware) that provides for superior quantitation (one to two orders of dynamic range increase over the Velos) which improves precision and accuracy at the low end of a standard curve.
3.4. Trap-HCD Fragmentation
3.4.1. Trap-HCD Fragmentation (software that allows for the isolation of the parent ions and processing them in a way that provides for a broader range of fragment ions including unique ions (as compared to the Velos) that can be used for structural determinations.
3.5. Service and Training
3.5.1. The vendor shall provide two days of Service and Training associated with these upgrades.
3.6. Installation
3.6.1. The upgrades will be installed at each location at mutually agreeable times during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
3.7. Reporting Requirements and Deliverables.
