OTIS - Question Set 1
We have visited the site and have the following questions:
1. In numerous places there are columns that interfere with the mobile system, static shelving and the pilferable cage. The layout will need to be redesigned to work around the columns. Please advise.
ANSWER: The AF Drawing NOT861-01 shows the building columns (as verified during our site visit and from CE drawings) that will need to be accommodated in the design. Also, per Appendix A, Paragraph 3.2.8, “Where building columns are located with the pallet racks and where decking is required, the Contractor shall provide a useful decking bay by cutting the decking to fit around the building column.” If there are other columns not identified in the AF Drawing NOT861-01, specific exceptions can be identified in the appropriate sections of the TPQ.
2. There are fire strobes that are mounted in several locations that will be blocked by either the shelving or the modular office. Please advise if these will be relocated or the design will be revised to reflect the current locations.
ANSWER: Building 80 is undergoing renovation/construction. The design will remain as shown on AF Drawing NOT861-01. Fire strobes blocked will be coordinated by base personnel for relocation options with their local CE/Fire department.
3. Does the pilferable cage require a roof?
ANSWER: Yes, per Appendix A, Paragraph 3.2.11, the wire partition shall be enclosed at the top to prevent overhead access.
4. It is our understanding that the overall height of the shelving cannot exceed 10’ due to code restrictions. P1 shelving is specified at 12’. Please advise.
ANSWER: Per AF Drawing NOT861-01, Revision A, the Type P1 pallet racks has been changed from 12’ to 10’ high.
5. The modular office requires both power and sprinkler connections. Please advise where those connection points will be.. Where is the main electrical box located that the power would be run from?
ANSWER: The power connection point will be from the electrical room and the sprinkler connection will be from the sprinkler pipes area as shown on AF Drawing NOT861-01.
6. The Rider Reach truck requires power for the Battery Charger. Please identify the location of the Battery Charger.
ANSWER: Per Appendix E, Paragraph 3.3.4.2., the battery charger shall be a 24-volt on-board charger with an extendible power cord which can be plugged into standard 110 AC power outlets.
The above questions impact our ability tor provide an accurate and complete offer. Will the Due Date be revised in order to allow proper amount of time to prepare our offer.
In addition to the questions below
As the building has been recently completed, please provide the names of both the sprinkler contractor and the electrical contractor to insure consistency with recently installed systems as they will both still be under warranty.
ANSWER: Per Appendix C, Paragraph 3.2.14, fire suppression system will be coordinated with the designated COTR/the local base CE/Fire Department. Similarly, electrical work is specified in the Cover PD – any exception or questions at time of installation will need to be coordinated with the designated COTR/local base CE.
Question set 2
I need find out if the mobile-aisle system can be quoted with middle row of the three shown in the drawing can be stationary.
Also, if the roof deck on the in-checking modular office will be used for storage and if so what the loading is.
