Item Quantity

RF front end and antenna

· Operates in the 2.4 and/or 5 GHz Frequency band.

· User defined waveforms.

· Where the modulation type, Forward Error Correction Scheme, and filtering can be used in conjunction with the front end.

Processor – such as (GPU, DSP, FPGA)

· Handle 4 front ends and antenna interfaces. And also interface to another processor with 4 front ends

· Capable of handling the combined data from the 4 front ends and antenna

· ~3.5Gb/s

Gigabit-transceiver – such as (Sata, HSSDC2, SPF)

· Comm link needed for inter-processor data exchange

· Bandwidth capable of ~3.5-4Gb/s

User Interface Controls (Push buttons, LEDS, 7 segment display, Serial port to a control Computer)

· For user input to the system push buttons will be used for changing specifications in the system (i.e. switching modulation type, etc)

· LEDS/7 segment displays will display the current state the system is in.

· The ability to use a control computer via terminal emulator and com port will provide more flexibility.

Software Interface - established data path between components for development/analysis of physical layer algorithms.

· Reference designs that facilitate physical layer algorithm development. These reference designs can then be extended for the specific needs.

· Working examples of:

· Gigabit-transceiver.

· Tx/Rx Pair

· Comm fundamentals

· (OFDM, QAM, PSK) Modulators

· FFT, IFFT, Autocorrelation Function blocks

· Interface to MATLAB

· Generate transmit signal in MATLAB, and have the ability to send the signal to the board to transmit. Receive the signal and load the received data back into MATLAB.

· MATLAB ability to access more than one, (At least 4) processors

· Control Tx/Rx gain on each processor (4 Front Ends)

· Bandwidth of user defined waveform.

· Carrier frequency

· Easy ability to move functions for MATLAB to processing block on processor. With ease of interface to new block.

· For example –Move modulation to processor block. But still be able to control the type of modulation from MATLAB.

Online Support Community

· Tutorials available for getting started with the hardware.

· Wiki designed to provide needed details on the hardware, such as sampling frequency, bus clocks etc

· Online forum for conversing with current users and/or developers of the hardware. (for trouble-shooting and debugging)
