STATEMENT OF WORK
Project Title: 3D Scanner
Document Date: 14 August 2018
Scope: Procurement of 1 each portable coordinate measuring machine
Background: The mobile scanner provides a unique capability of reverse engineering workstations and to collect human data necessary to conduct accommodation assessments. Using the portable coordinate measuring machine, the Anthropometry lab will be able to create extremely accurate 3D point clouds of large surfaces such as cockpits UAV pilot workstations, and ground vehicles. The collected data can then be overlaid with digital scans of these surfaces in Computer-Aided Design software and reconstructed in a digital format. Then, using digital human modeling software, population representative manikins can be digitally inserted and tested for proper size accommodation. This process saves the United States Air Force thousands of dollars in prototype testing costs, post-production evaluations, and TDY costs of having to test human subjects at the workstation locations. Additionally, this process requires less time on the aircraft platforms and workstations which allows operational units to continue with their warfighting mission is less time.
Task/Goal: Required for the Anthropometry and Human Services Integration Lab to conduct accommodation assessments of various Air Force aircraft and workstations. To produce accurate 3D point clouds for surface recreation in CAD software.
Minimum Requirements: This unit must have the following components to be functional for our needs:
1) Accuracy: +/- 0.001"
2) Repeatability: +/- 0.001"
3) Points per line scanning: 2000 points per line
4) Min point spacing: at least 0.1"
5) Scan rate: 100 frames/sec
6) Points per second: at least 600,000
7) Laser: Class 2
8) Operating temp: 50-104 degrees F
9) Operating Humidity Range: 90% non-condensing
10) Meet ISO 10360-8
11) Wireless Scanning Pack and Accessory Kit (portable battery and wi-fi scanning)
12) 2.5 M measuring Volume
13) Tripod Stand-Carbon Graphite Portable Model – Adjustable (29.25 in to 55.25 in)
Delivery Requirements:
- Delivery 8 weeks after award to 711HPW/OML 2510 Fifth Street, Building 840, Wright- Patterson AFB, OH 45433.
