ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS / OPERATION CONDITIONS
Operating Room Sterile Supplies Carousel Storage Units
Essential Characteristics:
The system shall have the capability to interface with the Censitrac which is an integral part of the overall project of Sterile Processing Department (SPD) that can be done via the MP12N Control system.
This will decrease the time picking case carts and allow SPD to keep tighter control of our instrument sets inventory.
The first system shall have a high-density storage system that could provide at least 2700 cubic feet of storage capacity with an overall footprint that could occupied 660 square footage. It shall have an ergonomic controls that are located on both ends of each carriage. This unit shall provide maximum selectivity of all storage via two 36” aisles. The second system shall also have a high density storage system with a 1008 cubic feet of storage capacity and an overall footprint occupying 216 square footage.
Both system shall have dual motor drive technology that would eliminate any torque problems created by a single motor drive system, and the second motor shall provide redundant power in case of failure of one of the motors.
Each unit shall provide 9 multi-functional carriers with 8.6" fold down walls creating 56" w x 23.8"d x 13" h compartments with 320 lbs shelf capacity. Each unit shall have a MP12N microprocessor, alphanumeric keyboard, and barcode scanner. Both units, once installed, shall provide at least 4838 cubic feet of supply storage. Having these unit, it will provide more storage rooms from floor to ceiling, enhancing security for high-value surgical assets and will improved ergonomics for the staff. The micro-processor control shall be capable of standalone inventory control/record tracking of a minimum of 10,000 20 digit article numbers and descriptions in memory (with optional MP12N controller). Optional controller capable of network connectivity via Ethernet for intranet web browser viewing of inventory/record database and reports. The MP12N controller shall also be capable of exchanging database information with corporate network. It shall offer a Microprocessor (MP) Control Override.
This feature (also Operator Driven) allows the system to continue to operate in the event of a failure in the microprocessor controls, by directing movement commands directly to the drive motors for simple operation.
The system shall have a safety features such as mechanical safety sweep for each aisle. It shall provide non-porous surface to secure sterile environment, able to reconfigured or relocated, provides smooth and even carriage movement, adjustable wire baskets for large and small instrument sets, and steel end panels for easy cleaning. More importantly, the system shall have the capability to reuse existing metro shelving; thus, it will save the government money. The system shall include an inventory management system that helps accurately track stored surgical instrument sets in Sterile Storage.
The carousels shall have a light curtain and chain lock device to meet new safety standards. It shall also include load bearing chains and motor drive chains that are pre-tensioned to maximum load of the unit.
The carousels shall have six-sided cabinets from top and bottom that are designed for cleanliness, security, and maximum protection for the stored material. It shall have a dynamic brake for precise positioning to the posting board and immediate stopping if safety interruption occurs. It shall have features of a 25% imbalance drive capability.
ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS / OPERATION CONDITIONS
Operating Room Sterile Supplies Carousel Storage Units
Operation Conditions:
The units shall be designed to manage Operating Room instrument sets stored within the Sterile Stores area. Each unit’s vertical carousel and vertical lift storage units shall facilitate inventory management and accuracy with a computerized storage database, ergonomically access, minimized floor space, and maximized storage space.
The Space saver Storage Systems shall be designed for "soft supplies" stored outside the units. The Space saver Storage System shall have the capability to reuse existing wire shelves on a floating modular aluminum floor with center flange guidance and half height steel end panels with ergonomic end controls.
The units shall be able to automatically bring the required surgical sets at the touch of a button. The microprocessor units from the unit shall offer the possibility of networking multiple units to a PC or any other devices. The units shall have dual motor drive technology thus ensuring freedom of movement in front of the carousel. The units shall have right and left drive motors that are controlled synchronously.
The Micro-processor over-ride feature of the units shall be reliable and failure-free. In the event there is a malfunction on the system controller, the micro-processor shall have an override feature which provides a direct, Powered drive to the motors to allow parts to be accessed.
