Repair Exterior Facility 20033

Pre Award RFIs #3

Question:

What kind of phasing, if any, should we anticipate with regards to the new window installation and reinforcement of the window openings? Can all of the openings be worked at one time or can we only do certain windows at certain times? Please provide some kind of an idea on how this work will need to be phased. The field tests specified in section 04 01 21 are extremely expensive and the frequency of them is dependent on the length of time the installation will take.

Answer:

Phasing will be required and will be clarified in a future addendum. The window replacement work will be limited to ribbon window replacement one opening (width varies 35’ to 60’) at a time.

Refer to sheet A‐103 where FRP window reinforcement requiring field tests are applicable (Detail 1/S‐

301). The future addendum will clarify this work shall be performed in three phases. Sheet A‐103 indicates the quantity of FRP reinforced openings, the quantity of FRP reinforced openings will vary per phase between 3 and 6. Refer to detail 1/S‐301 to determine LF of strap reinforcement that will be required for each opening to calculate test samples required for each phase.
