Repair Exterior Facility 20033

Pre Award RFIs #2

Question:

Please clarify detail 4 / S‐301. The detail shows a post with two horizontal HSS sections connecting into an adjacent concrete column. The detail does not show any work on the other side of the concrete column. Do the HSS sections continue on and get connected between concrete columns? Please clarify.

Answer:

Detail 4/S‐301 shows only one side of the column at the right side of the detail, so the detail does not the other side of the column or any conditions further to the right.

As indicated in Note 1, the detail applies at the ribbon windows at the south face of the existing insulated 4” thick precast panels. For these ribbon windows, where a ribbon window ends and there is not a concrete column, use a HSS jamb. For these ribbon windows, where a ribbon window is in front of a concrete column, anchor the horizontal HSS head & sill members into the concrete column.

For locations of ribbon windows and concrete columns where this detail applies, see Drawings AD101, AD102, AD103, AD202, A‐101, A‐102, A‐103, and A‐202. See also Section 2/A‐301, Drawing A‐612, and Detail 4/S‐301.
