PURGING UNIT, AIR, LIQUID OXYGEN STORAGE TANKS
RFQ QUESTION AND ANSWER
25 AUG 2015
Question:
Electrical Components - Is it permissible to consider program logic control as a means to operate the equipment. The current design has the temperature controllers inside the electrical control box. If there was a requirement to increase or decrease the temperature set point, the unit had to be turned off to open the door. Having the ability to adjust the temperature on the outside of the box makes more sense.
Answer:
The government does not disagree with using a PLC, although that exceeds the requirement.
Question:
Venting Assembly - I did not see any reference to a vent valve assembly requirement to vent excess pressure if purging LOX carts with reduced piping diameter less than 1-inch to avoid over amperage of the electrical motor. Is there a requirement for this accessory assembly?
Answer:
There is not a requirement for a venting assembly on the purging unit.
Question:
4.6.11 Mobility - I have been informed by a environmental testing lab that the MIL-M-8090 may have been cancelled in 1997. Is there an updated document or another MIL-M to reference so I can get quote to conduct the required test?
Answer:
MIL-M-8090 was cancelled and replaced by SAE-AS8090.
