1.0 Description of Services
1.1 Objective(s): This Performance Work Statement (PWS) describes the services required to perform depot level overhaul of the Transmission, NSN 1615-01-542-7514GC, Part Number 70351-58100-046 installed on the HH-60G helicopter. The HH-60G Transmission is a Critical Safety Item and consists of complex precision-machined parts assembled per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drawing specifications to transfer power from the engines to the rotors in order to allow the helicopter to fly. The Transmission has special characteristics, which if not conforming to the design of the part could cause catastrophic failure that could result in complete loss of power to, and control of, the aircraft. Failure of the Transmission could result in the loss of aircraft and lives of the crew. Therefore, the original design of the end-item and parts thereof, or the design functional capabilities of the end-item, shall not be changed, modified, or altered unless such changes are authorized in writing by the Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO) or specified by publication or directive listed in this PWS.
The overhaul of the HH-60G Transmission will require the contractor to conduct inspection/functional checkout and disassembly/assembly to restore to a serviceable condition end item that shall efficiently serve its intended purpose using the Army DMWR 1-1615-372 to overhaul the transmission up to the point of removal, disassembly, repair, and assembly of the tail takeoff housing and pinion, AF P/N 70351-38146-041, where the applicable technical reference will be NAVAIR A1-862QA-MDB-200. Therefore, repair and overhaul sources must qualify in accordance with the appropriate Government engineering activity, AFLCMC/ WIUEC Engineering office, Robins AFB, GA. Additionally, AFLCMC/WIUEC Engineering office must approve the qualification procedures.
1.2 Benefit to United States Air Force (USAF): The Transmission is Mission Critical for the HH- 60G helicopter combat search and rescue mission. Without a serviceable Transmission the HH- 60G helicopter is grounded. Continued overhaul coverage of the Transmission is critical for mission capability and effectiveness. This acquisition will benefit the USAF by ensuring continued overhaul coverage and result in more aircraft available to perform the Special Operation Forces (SOF) mission.
DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C: Distribution authorized to U.S. Government agencies and their contractors (Administrative or Operational Use; 21 August 2012). Other requests for this document shall
