Construct Addition & Renovate Facility for Command Post, Bldg 807 ‐ FA6670‐15‐B‐0002

Questions and Answers, Set 2, dated 27 July 2015

1) Q – Airhandle and ductwork in room 110 and 113 needs to be removed. Will room be vacant and ceilings removed?

A – Rooms in Area B will be vacated on a case by case basis as necessary to complete construction in these specific rooms during Phase II of construction. Every effort should be made to minimize down time in rooms 110 and 113. It is understood that Room 109 needs to be vacated for a longer duration. Contractor is responsible for ceiling removal and re‐installation.

Note that Room 113 gets new ceiling tiles per the forthcoming Addendum.

2) Q – Will A/C and heat need to be maintained during construction?

A – The existing building will remain in operation and occupied during the construction of the new addition in Phase I. A/C and heat shall be maintained. During Phase II, the contractor shall notify building occupants of expected utility shutoffs and make every reasonable effort to minimize system down time. Also, A. Existing hot water/DX cooling air handling unit, serving area of work is to be demolished in its entirety. However, it shall be temporarily relocated and remain in operation until the addition space is completed and operational.

B. Existing exterior wall louvers, dampers, and controls related motorized dampers associated with the existing air handler shall be disconnected and removed in their entirety. This will allow for the construction of the addition space.

C. Existing emergency vent discharge louver shall be relocated to the adjacent building face. Associated ductwork will be modified and extended to the new louver location.

D. Existing ductwork, insulation, diffusers, hangers, hardware, accessories, control wiring, etc… associated with the above noted air handler serving the existing CAT Room and adjacent spaces to the west will be disconnected and removed. All other ductwork will remain in place and operational until the new CAT HVAC system is installed and fully operational.

E. After CAT system is operational, the existing air handler and select ductwork not being reused, is to be demolished as described in line item D. Existing hot water supply and return piping is to be isolated off and prepared to be extended to the new air handler provided under addition work.
