Construct Addition & Renovate Facility for Command Post, Bldg 807 ‐ FA6670‐15‐B‐0002
Questions and Answers, Set 1, dated 22 July 2015
1) Q – Can you provide as‐built drawings of the project building (B807)?
A – The record drawings are out‐of‐date because other contractors have performed work since without providing as‐builts. As‐builts should not be relied upon for purposes of preparing a bid due to the fact that they are not field verified against current conditions. The winning bidder may examine record drawings as needed to assist in preparing a work plan.
2) Q – Will room 117 be emptied of all contents before the construction work commences?
A – The Government prefers to move contents off to the side to facilitate the work in this room.
Contractor should plan to hang plastic or take other measures as necessary to protect contents.
Personnel will vacate the room while under construction.
3) Q – Will room 109 be emptied of all contents before the construction work commences?
A – The Government prefers to move contents into the addition once complete and before major work commences in room 109; but if removal is necessary to complete the work then the
Government will substantially empty the contents of room 109.
4) Q – On drawing A‐200, it’s called out for 3” Z Furring and 2” rigid insulation, which we think is a design flaw, as the depths should match up. Please clarify.
A – 3” Rigid insulation is required. Also, detail 2 incorrectly shows the wall dimension as 1‐4 ¾”.
The correct dimension to allow for proper placement of GWB is 1’‐5 5/8” similar to detail 3. An addendum is forthcoming.
5) Q – The following question has been submitted for clarification on section 09613: 2.1.3 Carpet
Please clarify the requirement of the field installed "one to one" carpet tile as specified with a factory installed carpet tile as implied by 1.2.6 "Bond Strength of factory Installed Covering", 2.1.2E Panel Construction, and 2.1.4 Edge Strip Requirements typically associated with Factory
Applied Carpet Tile.
The Tate Access Floor Panels are available in either a factory applied carpet tile finish with edge trim or unfinished to receive a field applied "one to one" Post Tile Carpet Tile without edge trim. A PosiTile Brochure is attached.
A – Engineering’s interpretation is that edge trim is required.
6) Q – The following question has been submitted for clarification on section 09613: Accessories
‐ Please clarify the requirements of 2.1.5 Air Distribution Requirements that are not shown or quantified on the Bid Documents.
A – Specification says “where indicated.”
7) An addendum is forthcoming to install new ceiling tile in Room 113 rather than salvaging in that location as indicated on drawing A‐100. In addition, the modification will include installation of ten (10) new ceiling tiles to replace the ten (10) worst, currently broken tiles that are currently indicated to be salvaged on the drawings.
