FA5422‐17‐R‐7009 – Small Shelter Systems Questions and Answers #3

1. In reference to the raised floor system for the Small Shelter System, please provide the following minimum salient characteristics:

a. Dimensions

b. Longest frame section

c. Wind load resistance

d. Snow load resistance

e. Floor load

f. Quantity of base pads

g. Quantity of stairs

Answer:

a. Minimum dimensions of 20'x32', as that is the dimensions of the frame of the tent. If doable, a little more space on the edges would be nice.

b. 8' in length

c. 80 MPH sustained/100 MPH gusts resistance

d. 20 PSF Snow load resistance

e. 100 PSF load for floors.

f. don't understand this question.

g. 1 set of stairs to go to front entrance

2. Is the raised floor system required to be adjustable to accommodate uneven terrain?

Answer: Yes

3. If the Small Shelter System is raised off the ground, is the ECU required to be raised off the ground at the same level as the shelter?

Answer: it is not required to be raised. Many of the ECUs in use here are on wooden or concrete block platforms
