Q&A to Solicitation: FA520518QB045 35th Contraction Squadron, Misawa Air Base, Japan

For further questions or concerns, please email: christopher.unger.2@us.af.mil

Question 1:

Expanding the class C network. Is this something you are looking for the contractor to do or will the base comm squadron do this?

Here is an example on how you can expand your current network " You can use a subnet less than the standard class C subnet address (255.255.255.0).

For example, instead of one network with IP addresses of 192.168.1.X with a subnet of 255.255.255.0, you could have networks with IP addresses of 192.168.1.X and 192.168.2.X (And 192.168.3.X, etc.) with a subnet of 255.255.0.0.

Since they both have the same NETWORK address (192.168) they can communicate with each other."

Answer:

We don’t want to use a 255.255.0.0 with 65K hosts. We were anticipating a 255.255.254.0 mask with 510 hosts. The contractor would be responsible for updating the IP subnet and updating all devices to communicate, ie 1500s, V5, VCC, Wyse terminals, site commander, and the switching equipment(4 CISCO switches), etc. Comm squadron doesn’t have access to any of our cabinets, racks or switching equipment and since visiting each of the 126 facilities to initialize it to add the secondary master it made sense to have contractor do it at same time.

Question 2:

How many SCIF/SAPF's do you have that would need to communicate back to BDOC and Alt BDOC?

Right now the equipment list has one (1) encryption tunnel, but at a minimum you would need three (2) with one (1) at the SCIF, one (1) at BDOC, and one (1) at Alt BDOC. FYI, the encryption tunnels only have three (3) RJ45 ports on them.

Answer:

We have 2 secure facilities with 1 encryption tunnel at each and 2 6602's at the current headend location. Does the number of RJ-45 jacks feed into the equation if they are many to 1 devices and feed into a switch?

Question 3:

The SOW says the workstations would be installed in an equipment rack., but there are KVM extenders on the equipment list. Do you need KVM extenders and monitors for this effort?

Answer:

The new equipment rack has a KVM drawer to view at the source. The KVM extenders were to send the KVM+audio function to the officers standing watch and monitoring the alarms in a separate room.

Question 4:

Is there an equipment rack for the workstations and do you want an UPS backup battery inside the equipment rack?

Answer:

Yes there is a new 84" Great lakes 19" equipment rack for the installation at 1940. Yes we desire a backup battery in the location but it can be mounted exterior to the rack if needed.
