Questions Regarding Solicitation No. FA5000-19-Q-0011

Q1. AKS’ vinyl is certified to MIL-PRF-44103D will the “Or Equal” be required to be certified to Mil-PRF-44103D?

A1. The Alaska Small Shelter System and the “Or Equal” shall be certified to MIL-PRF-44103D.

Q2. AKS has 3rd party testing reports verifying they meet a wind load of over 60 MPH and a snow load of 20 PSF. Will you require any 3rd party test reports to verify the wind and snow loads for the “Or Equal” Shelters?

A2. A 3rd party test report is not required if there are initial tests conducted that verify wind loads over 60 MPH and snow loads of 20 PSF.

Q3. The salient characteristics state that the shelter frame sections shall be Corrosion resistant. The only means to provide “maximum corrosion resistance” is through powder coating (painting provides inferior corrosion resistance). Please confirm that the frame sections must be powder coated.

A3. The shelter frame sections should be corrosion resistant, but it is at the Contractor’s discretion as to how the shelter frame sections are manufactured to be corrosion resistant.

Q4. Are the end panels required to be insulated with insulation material and an internal liner?

A4. Yes, end panels are required to be insulated and an internal liner is required.

Q5. Is the shelter required to include a spares/repair kit? If so, what are the Minimum contents of the kit?

A5. Yes, requires a 30 day spares/repair kit that include materials for cover, liner, and floor.

Q6. Do you require any test reports verifying the internal temperatures when the shelter is used in extreme ambient temperatures with an ECU that provides 42,000 BTUs of cooling and 12kW of heating?

A6. No test reports are required.
