FA5000-16-T-0050 Questions and Answers #3

Q1: You addressed the 18" deep top shelf in the Q&A response dated 4/11 2016. The shelving unit cannot be manufactured to accommodate an 18" deep and 24" deep shelf within the same unit. We can put a stop on the shelf to be used at the top so it is in effect 18" deep. Will that be acceptable? Please consider that if there is an interference at the 64 1/4" height, you will not be lifting material up above approximately 54" anyway.

A1: A stop on the top shelf to limit size to 18" is acceptable. Size limit is for safety to limit size and weight of items being placed on the top shelf. The height of the low ceiling area is 87".

Q2: In Q & A Document #1, Question 4, it states that the shelving under the low ceiling will be 61 1/4" high, but in Q & A Document #2, Question 1, it states that the shelving under the low ceiling area cannot be taller than 64 1/4" high. Can you clarify if all of the shelving in the entire system should be 64 1/4" high as long as this is within fire code? It also mentions that the ceiling height is 89". Are there any sprinklers in this area and if so, what is the height from the floor to the bottom of the sprinkler heads?

Can you clarify that all shelving should have 5 shelves per unit including the ones in the low ceiling area?

A2: All shelving shall have a top shelf height no higher than 64 1/2". Carriage height can be higher as the low ceiling height is at 89"; this will allow for items to be placed on the top shelf under the low ceiling height for all carriages when moved under the low ceiling height area.

There are 5 shelves for all.

There is a sprinkler head on the low ceiling area but it is approximately 7 feet from the shelving area and it is 85" above the floor.
