FA5000-16-T-0050 Questions and Answers

Q1: One item that is still a concern is that the specs call for the lower 4 shelves to be 24" deep and the top shelves to be 18" deep. This is not possible as the supports that hold up the shelves are hooked to the slots on the front and back of the uprights, so the shelves all have to be the same depth. Can you please confirm that 24" deep shelves for all levels is what you are looking for on one stationary carriage, 18" deep shelves for the second stationary carriage and 36" deep shelves for the moveable carriages.

A1: No, the top shelf is to be 18" deep on all of the stationary carriages, and the lower four to be 24" deep.

Q2: The solicitation mentions a total of 7 carriages - can you verify that there are a total of 5 moveable carriages between the stationary carriages that are approximately 14' x 36". This leaves a very large aisle of over 100". But if I put 7 moveable carriages in the middle, my aisle is down to 26", so this is too small.

A2: There is a total of 7 carriages with 2 stationary (which do not move): one being 18 9/16" wide and the other 24 91/6" wide. There will be 47 1/2" of open space so the movable carriages can be rotated back and forth.

Q3: In one area it says there are 4 shelving units for a total of 14', yet it says the shelving units are 48"W.

Please clarify.

A3: Each shelving unit will be 42"W.

Q4: Lastly, in one place it says that the shelving in the low ceiling area cannot be taller than 64", but in another area it says that the entire system shall be no higher than 64". Do you want all of the shelving to be the same height? Is it the shelving that can be no higher than 64" or the entire system with the rails and carriages that can be no taller than 64". The tracks and carriages add about 7" to the height, so if the shelving is 64"H, the overall system will be 71"H - is this acceptable?"

A4: The shelving will be 64¼" high with 5 storage levels (including the top shelf) except for the shelving under the low ceiling which will be 61¼” high with 4 storage levels (the top shelf should not be used under the low ceiling). Which means that the shelving unit cannot be taller than 64 1/4" tall. 71"H will not be acceptable.
