Text version

The Cisco maintenance (SMARTnet) coverage would cover all of the items. Usually just the main parent SN is the “priced” item, and all of the minor items for that item are covered under the umbrella of Cisco support. In other works, for a normal Cisco network switch…the main switch SN would be the priced line…and all of the components on that device (like power supply, line card, memory, etc) are covered under the umbrella of support for that item. Most of those minor line items don’t have Serial #’s, so they probably wouldn’t show up on a renewal quote.

SMARTnet support is coverage by device.. Some devices may fall into one of the categories below. The higher end (core/data center) devices usually fall into the Tier 1 and Tier 2 you have listed below.. The access switches/routers, etc…usually fall into the Tier 3 and 4 category. The SMARTnet maintenance coverage would relate to the specific product listed on the quotes.

*Tier 1/Converged Devices (UCS, N9K, N7K)
*Tier 2/High Value Devices (ISR4400+, ASR, N5K, ASA)
*Tier 3/Standard Devices (C4500, C6500)
*Tier 4/Low Value Devices (C3850, C3560)
