1. I have contractors calling me asking to split the quotes up on the different tanks because of the contract split, but I am not sure which pump is for which tank; can you please confirm?

We quoted Pump 1 = 50 gpm @ 50 ' Pump 2 = 200 gpm @ 40'

Answer- The info is in the drawings and specs.

Electrical drawing OOE-002 shows a fill pump and two recirc/mixer pumps Pump data is called out on Spec 43.21.13

Fill pump: 200 gpm at 40 ft head Recirc pumps (2): 50 gpm at 50 ft

2. In section 02 32 00 Subsurface Drilling, Sampling and Testing, is this section still the responsibility of the general contractor?

Not knowing the soil bearing conditions adds to the cost. It is our understanding that some other projects, at this site, had to be excavated to 6' and engineered fill was brought in. What if suitable bearing is not encountered for the much heavier tanks? Is the General Contractor responsible for providing engineered fill if the Testing results state that the existing soil is not adequate?

Answer- The design takes into account the soils being sand and that is why the foundation is so thick. It would be considered unforeseen site conditions if the ground is found to be unstable. The Government would then be required to negotiate for sufficient fill to be brought in. A prepared Geotechnical Report of the area is being attached to assist the contractor's understanding of the soil conditions.

3. Section 33 16 15 Paragraph 3.6 states PAINTING AND COATING OF TANK (OPTIONAL PER CAFB CIVIL ENGINEERING). Are the tanks to be painted or is the factory galvanized coating all that is required?

Answer- Answer pending, since no specific coating is specified, if any painting is required, painting will be accomplished by contract modification at a later date.
