QUESTIONS FOR FA4626-16-R-0013

CONTINUOUS WATER MONITORING SYSTEM

1. HAND HOLE ITS-104 IS REALLY A MANHOLE THAT IS ABOUT 8’ SQUARE. IS IT FULL OF WATER? DOES IT REQUIRE A CORE DRILL FOR NEW CONDUIT?

Response: Assume the manhole is full of water for bidding purposes. Yes, core drilling is required.

2. THERE ARE 2 STREETS TO CROSSINGS FROM MANHOLE ITS-104 TO THE NEW BUILDING. CAN THESE BE OPEN BY TRENCHING OR MUST THEY BE BORED?

Response: By directional boring.

3. PART OF THE TRENCH FROM ITS-104 TO NEW BUILDING RUNS IN THE PAVED TURN LANE TO WHITEHALL DRIVE. CAN THIS BE IN THE DIRT BY THE SIDEWALK?

Response: Directional bore the entire length from the ITS-104 to the new building. The exact placement of the directional bore can be revised as approved by the Contracting Officer during construction.

4. IT IS VERY FAR TO RUN THE FIBER FROM ITS-104 TO THE NEW BUILDING. THIS DISTANCE WILL REQUIRE SEVERAL HANDHOLES. DOES THE BASE HAVE LOCATION PREFERENCES?

Response: There is no location preference for contractor provided hand holes.

5. THERE IS NO SIZE CALLED OUT FOR THE CONDUIT FROM THE POLE TO THE NEW BUILDING. IT WAS MENTIONED AT THE PRE-BID TO USE 2”. WILL THAT SIZE BE ACCEPTABLE?

Response: The Contractor shall size the conduit appropriately for the conductors.

6. SHEET E1.O SHOWS A SEPARATE METER BASE AND DISCONNECT FOR THE SERVICE. IS A METER/MAIN (ALL IN ONE) ACCEPTABLE?

Response: Yes, meter/main is acceptable.

Response: New transformer is in addition to the existing one.

11. WE COULD NOT GET INTO BUILDING 3080 ON PRE-BID. WHERE DO WE INSTALL THE CABLE AND CABINET (CIRCLE NOTE 6 ON SHEET E1.0)? IS CABLE TRAY AVAILABLE? IT WAS DECIDED AT PRE-BID TO PUT PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE.

Response: The Contractor does not need to provide cable trays. See attached map of Bldg. 3080 for location of new communication equipment.

Response: Use one 12 strand.
