Questions/Answers
FA462518Q0016 – Mission’s End A/V
13 March 2018
1. QUESTION: May we re-use the existing rack for the project?
ANSWER: Yes, reusing the shell is allowed. Our intent is that all electronic equipment is removed and replaced.
2. QUESTION: It seems the team would prefer a rear projection system vs front projection. Can you clarify that aspect? A rear projection system I quote will be more expensive than a front projection system, and would not give an apples to apples proposal if you are not quoted the same type of system.
ANSWER: It's not that we necessarily prefer it, which is why we left that flexibility in the verbiage of the statement of work. The key for us is that the projector is discreet. Rear projection obviously offers that because it's completely out of sight, but for example, if a ceiling-mounted projector was out of sight and then dropped down when it was time for use, that would suffice.
3. QUESTION: I spoke with our rear projection screen manufacturer regarding lumens needed for your room brightness. They agreed using a 10,000 lumen projector would be overkill for the screen size, and may cause hot spots. 6-7,000 Lumens should be enough, and they would recommend wide dispersion material for the room shape and light dispersion. I would recommend you list a range of projector light level in the 6-7,000 range rather than a high output.
ANSWER: We want an image that is clear and visible in that space, regardless of lighting. See attached modified SOW updated 7 Mar 18.
4. QUESTION: Is an audio feed needed in the control area?
ANSWER: Yes
5. QUESTION: Can you provide more descriptive floor plan/As-Builts?
ANSWER: Yes, see attachments.
6. QUESTION: On the site walk it was brought up that you may want to have each zone controlled separately from Zone 6. As a factor of flexibility, do you want control of each zone FROM each zone, with master control capabilities from Zone 6 - or all just at Zone 6?
ANSWER: Primarily master control from zone 6 with input capability from all zones.
7. QUESTION: You had mentioned you wished for a larger screen. Being that you use Zone 6 as storage and as a control room, how large would you want the drop-down screen to be? In the event people may have to enter Zone 6 to change inputs, levels, etc. it was mentioned a screen could NOT fill the wall of Zone 6 - so how large can we have the screen?
ANSWER: The larger concern is that the current video doesn't always fill the entire existing screen, we need scalability control to allow all media types to be projected at the full size of the existing screen.
However, the only limitations as to screen size is the dimensions of the opening to zone 3.
8. QUESTION: Will each zone have input jacks within the zone to control their own content, or will all inputs come from Zone 6? The requirement is for various input devices such as DVD, CD, Blu Ray, etc. If so, what jacks do you want in each zone?
ANSWER: We need the same capabilities that we currently have.
9. QUESTION: It was mentioned that the rack in Zone 6 was functional and could be reused. Does the current rack meet current specifications? Is there a lightning-strike ground and is it lockable?
ANSWER: Yes it can, it is lockable. We need the equipotential ground to be verified as up to NEC/NESC standard.
10. QUESTION: Can you provide the details of the speakers that need to be replaced (qty, make, and model)?
ANSWER: 12 Sonance PS-C83RT are installed in zone 1, 2, and 3 the remaining 18 speakers are SoundAdvance CM-860s ceiling mounted speakers. We need all speakers to be equivalent or better than the Sonance PS-C83RTs.
