SUBJECT: Sewer Line Flushing in Military Family Housing
1. The sewer lines in Military Family Housing will be flushed on (date flushing is done in area) between 0630 and 1630 hours.
2. There is a slight possibility of back-flush, water spraying up and out of the bathroom stools, as a result of the hydro flushing. Only when the flushing is being done in your immediate area does the potential exist. Therefore, in order to prevent undue hardships, the following precautions should be taken:
a. Place a plastic bag over the bowl of the toilet with a newspaper or similar item between that and the seat.
b. Prior to removing the plastic bag from your stool, flush the toilet one time. Additionally, run water in all of your sinks and drains. This procedure is to replace any water that has been siphoned from the stool or drain traps during the cleaning process.
3. The flushing of the sewer lines will not affect your drinking water, dishwasher, washing machine, and the use of your restrooms. However, it is not recommended that you use the toilet at the exact time your sewer line is being flushed (when the sewer cleaning vehicles are in the area of your back yard).
4. All sewer mains and manholes are located behind the housing units. The contractor will be working in these areas and as such, will be potentially driving on your lawn. To eliminate any chance of the contractor vehicles rutting and damaging lawns, we request all residents discontinue watering their lawns in the area of work until after the scheduled cleaning date.
5. Forward all questions to _______________________________________________.
