RE: LEAD-BASED PAINT SUI~VEY -BUILDING 871

Dear Mr. Crosby:

On May 12, 1999, Acacia Environmental Management conducted a survey of the exterior painted surfaces of the referenced building, and a copy of the analytical results are attached. The survey utilizes a "typical" connotation approach. That is, where one sample is collected from a gray electric panel box, the analytical results will apply to all gray electric panel boxes, whether specifically sampled or not.

of the seventeen (17) total samples collecied, the gray-painted exterior stucco and concrete and tan- and beige-painted transite siding were analyzed to contain no detedable amount of lead. Lead was analyzed to be present in the range of 50 to 1,000 mg/kg for the metal bumper posts. Man doors and frames, pipes, conduits and gutters, lan- and beige-painted louvers, and light gray-painted HV eledric components were analyzed to contain greater than 1,000 mg/kg lead.

The waste residue of those samples collecied and analyzed to contain greater than 1,000 mg/kg lead are automatically is charaderized as "hazardous." The waste residue of those samples collected and analyzed to contain between 50 and 1,000 mg/kg lead will subsequently need to be analyzed by TCLP and Cal. W.E.T. protocol to characterize tl1e waste.

OSHA regulations (29 CPR 1926.62) require an employer to protect his/ her employees form over exposure to lead, whenever a detectable amount of lead is analyzed to be present.

Sincerely, Dan Weathers, President

DJW/ae
