STATEMENT OF WORK
PURCHASE OF TANK SYSTEM FOR NITROGEN (N2) GENERATION SYSTEM
Building 863 (Dock 4), Minot AFB, ND 58705
1.0 Background
This Statement of Work (SOW) describes the requirement for the purchase of 2 air pressure tanks to be installed with a Nitrogen (N2) Generation System at Building 863 (Dock 4), Minot AFB, ND.
2.0 Scope
The effort is to purchase 2 tanks to be added to the already purchased N2 Generation System. The installed system will be utilized in the servicing and filling of B-52 Main Landing Gear (MLG) and Tip Protection Gear (TPG) tires after completion of assembly. The use for N2 to fill aircraft tires is outlined in T.O. 4T-1-3, chapter 4, paragraph 4.1.2. Currently, (1) N2 Generator and (1) Hycomp air booster have been purchased and are on site in Dock 4. There is a recommendation by manufactures installation instructions “To minimize the effects of pulsation phenomena Hycomp air boosters operate best with both an upstream pulsation tank (buffer tank) and a discharge receiver tank.” The specific equipment requirements are listed in section 4.0 of this SOW.
3.0 Objectives
The N2 Generation System will be maintained and operated by 5 MXS Wheel and Tire section personnel to fill and service MLG and TPG tires.
4.0 Equipment Requirements
The below requirements are recommended by the manufacture in order to ensure the purest of N2 air is provided (95% or higher). There is a requirement to have the interior to have an Epoxy coating to expand equipment life and to prevent any corrosion or delamination from inside the tanks which could be transferred to the aircraft tires causing more corrosion issues.
Tank 1 - Pressure Vessel Codes: ASME, Carbon Steel, Vertical 24” Diameter, 120 Gallon, 200 Internal psi, -20 to 400F Operating Temp, 0.00000” Corrosion Allowance, Standard Primer Exterior Finish, Interior Epoxy, Steel Plug, SRV and Gauge Kit, Drain, Approximate Weight: 275 lbs.
Tank 2 - Pressure Vessel Codes: ASME, Carbon Steel, Vertical 24” Diameter, 120 Gallon, 500 Internal psi, -20 to 400F Operating Temp, 0.0000” Corrosion Allowance, Standard Primer Exterior Finish, Interior Epoxy, Steel Plugs, Drain, Approximate Weight: 830 lbs
