Repair PRIDE Parking Lot – FA4528-15-R-0014

Q1 - Please provide clarification as to what is required for aggregate base course beneath the pavement. Specification 32 11 23 lists several requirements and also state that it shall meet NDDOT Class 5. The plans also discuss using salvaged base as an alternate. Some of these specifications contradict each other.

A1 – The aggregate base course shall meet NDDOT Class 5 requirements. Salvage base course will not be accepted as an alternate on this project. Please, see Amendment No. 1.

Q2 - Please clarify density requirements for aggregate base course. Specification 32 11 23 states 100% and plans show 95% standard proctor.

A2 – Sheet G-002 of the plans has been updated to reflect the correct density requirements for the aggregate base course. Please, see Amendment No. 1 The 100% standard proctor, specified, has been reflected in the plans.

Q3 - Please provide a typical section for the full depth pavement section, clarifying the subgrade requirements beneath the pavement.

A3 – Typical sections details shown on Sheet C-501 and Sheet C-502 have been updated to reflect the full-depth pavement section to include the depth and type of base course. Sheet G-002 has been updated to include the subgrade requirements and compaction requirements. Subgrade shall meet the requirements of the City of Minot 2013 Standard Specification and shall be compacted to 100% standard proctor, as indicated on revised Sheet G-002. Please, see Amendment No. 1.

Q4 - Spec Section 32 12 16 - This specification is for Superpave FAA 43. There are several items listed which are not consistent with superpave such as stability, flow, and natural sand content.

A4 – Superpave FAA 43 shall be used and shall comply with the requirements of the NDDOT Standard Specifications. Where conflicts arise, the NDDOT Specifications shall govern. Where ambiguities are present, the NDDOT Standard Specifications shall be followed. Please, see Amendment No. 1.

Q5 - Spec Section 32 12 16 - Specification does not list density requirements except for the Test Section. Please clarify.

A5 – The density requirements have been included in the revised specification Section 32 12 16 included in Amendment No. 1. Please, see Amendment No.1.

Q6 - Spec Section 32 12 16 Paragraph 3.9.2 - Longitudinal Joints - Spec states that cold joints are to be cut back. This requirement seems excessive for a parking lot. Please verify that this will be required.

A6 – As indicated in the specifications, the item will be required.

Q7 - Please provide a cross section for the Asphalt Dumpster Pads.

A7 – Sheet C-501 and Sheet C-Cp-100 have been updated to reflect the cross section for the Asphalt Dumpster Pads. Please, see Amendment No. 1
