After site visit questions FA442721Q0091, Ductless AC Unit

Questions Due: 11 August 2021, 8:00 AM, PDT Response Date: 20 August 2021 4:00 PM, PDT

1. During the site visit it was asked if the customer had architectural drawings of the building that showed exact dimensions of the facility. Request drawings that show sizes of rooms 5 and 6 and the hallway between the two rooms. Also request electrical and mechanical drawings for the facility. Can the customer also provide any equipment documentation that may show the amount of heat generated by each piece of mission equipment in rooms 5 and 6?

- Please see attached blueprints from Civil Engineering attachment 3, 4 and 13.

2. Can the new Condenser be placed on the existing concrete just west of the double doors into the hallway?

- Yes, it can be placed on the existing concrete, we just request you do not block the walkway and place the condenser as close as possible to the building.

3. Can the new piping (Refrigeration, electrical conduit, condensate) be mounted to the wall directly above or below the existing T-bar ceiling?

- It can be mounted below.

4. Are there any new outside air or ATFP requirements for this project? Or will the existing HVAC maintain these requirements?

- No new outside air or ATFP requirements for this project.

5. Will the new Split systems be standalone with local thermostats? Or will they need to be tied into the existing HVAC equipment, base wide control system or fire alarm system?

- They will need to be standalone with local thermostats.

6. Will a new dry well on the east side of the building be an acceptable condensate collection system?

- Yes.

7. Will the existing HVAC system need to be modified in anyway?

- No, the ductless AC will be standalone and the existing HVAC system will need to be repaired for a bigger project later. The ductless AC is a temporary fix for AC until we can repair the existing HVAC system.

8. Are these new split system units additional cooling only?

- No, the new split system will need to be the primary means of cooling when humans and aircraft simulators are on and present for 5-6 hours of the day.

9. Usually systems with less than 2000CFM are not connected to the Fire Alarm/Sprinker

System. Will this ductless split system be required to be connected to the fire alarm/

Questions Due: 11 August 2021, 8:00 AM, PDT Response Date: 20 August 2021 4:00 PM, PDT sprinkler systems?

- Negative, sys not required to be connected to the fire alarm/sprinkler system since this project is considered a temporary fix.

10. American Inc has not found a USA MADE split system, we’ve ran into this challenge on a number of military projects. Each base seems to have a brand they will accept for this type of equipment. Does TAFB require a brand specific split system? or a brand that is not acceptable? We suggest one of the following systems Carrier, Daikin, or Mitsubishi.

- TAFB prefers either Carrier or Mitsubishi type ductless A/C units
