23 SOWS, Bldg. 90748
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
15 Aug 2018
Question 1: It appears as though the left side (plan view) of the building is a secured area, while the right side is not. Should the ductwork that goes through the secured walls have security bars in them?
Answer: No, bars are not required.
Question 2: Drawing FA-100, General Demolition Note states, "Fire Alarm System to remain operational throughout the extent of construction." With the extent of the wall and ceiling demolition within the project area, leaving nothing for the fire alarm conduit or devices to remain mounted to, can the government confirm this note is intended to convey that the occupied, non-project area's Fire Alarm system is to remain operational at all times, but that the project area's fire alarm is not expected to remain operational at all times?
Answer: The fire alarm system must remain operational at all times for the project duration for the entire building area.
Question 3: Where will dumpster be allowed?
Answer: West of building 90748.
Question 4: Will more than one dumpster be allowed on project at same time?
Answer: Yes.
Question 5: Attachment 5 of the Solicitation requests P/PPQs. How many do we need?
Also, can we use CPAPs? If so, how many? What is the maximum we can submit?
Answer: Please review Sections L & M of the Solicitation. It provides guidance on what is to be submitted and how it will be evaluated.
Question 6: Specification section 01 33 00-1.9-c – Please confirm the review period is in working days. It seems that many days should be in calendar days. A review period that long is too much for this short of a project duration.
Answer: Calendar days is correct for the review period.

Question 7: Plans show several lockboxes that are to be provided by the electrical contractor on this project. The only info shown is, must be provided in accordance with AFSSI 7703, and must accommodate Sargent and Greenleaf Lock NSN 5340002856523. There is not a section in the project manual for lockboxes, which leads me to my question.
1. Is there a part number for these items? Lockbox and Secure Pull Box?
Answer: The boxes come in a couple of sizes. Lockbox must be metal, welded permanently and completely around all surfaces, 16-gauge or better, with tamper-proof hinges and tamper-proof hasp and no pre-punched knockouts. The hasp must be able to accommodate a Sargent and Greenleaf, Inc. high security padlock, model 8077AD, NSN 5340002856523 In the past we have ordered part numbers JM664CH12GASPECIAL and JM12126CH12GASPECIAL from Sequel Electrical Supply. The boxes used in distribution to the end boxes where conduit larger than 1" may need to be the larger box mentioned previously.
Question 8: Is the Communications scope of this project for rough in only and the GOV will supply and install all cabling and equipment?
Answer: Correct.
Question 9: Is Bid Option 1 to include only the rough-in portion for GOV furnished Communications System?
Answer: There is no Bid Option. CLIN 0002 is for communications rough-in.
Question 10: The door schedule shows that exterior door 1 has a type A frame that is 7’-6” wide, but the floor plan shows that the door opening is only 3’ wide. Is the door schedule wrong, or is the plan wrong?
Answer: Door #01 is 3’ wide and requires a 3’-4” wide ALSF frame.
Question 11: The porcelain floor tiles (Shadow Bay series) on pg. 10 of the design are no longer available from the manufacturer. How should we proceed?
Answer: Specific manufacturer products and finishes are provided as the basis of design.
Products and finishes meeting the specification and design intent are typically acceptable.
Question 12: AMRDEC is currently down as of 15 Aug. Will an amendment be sent removing the contractor’s allowance/ability to use AMRDEC from the solicitation leaving mail & hand-carry as the only two options for proposal delivery?
Answer: We are aware of the AMRDEC issue, however, after speaking with AMRDEC customer service the site will be back online shortly.
