Concept of Operations for a Representative One Week Course (EXAMPLE):

Day 1: Initiate morning recall at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled show time. Upon arrival at STTS, the students will receive an initial intel brief on their exercise area of operations (AO) and will then prep men and equipment and deploy out to the FTX site. Upon arrival at the FTX site, the students will established the student base camp and secure men and equipment. Afterwards, the students will proceed to the briefing tent where they will receive 7 hours of SR academics. Following the academic block, the students will be given their first short duration scenario and exercise SPINS by the lead instructor and will go into mission planning mode for the next 4 hours.

The students will then give a Team Leader (TL) OPORD brief, provide a 6 Part Folder to the STOC, and depart for their first SR mission. The first mission is approximately 18 hours in duration. Cadre observers will walk with the team(s) and will provide instructor assistance as required. In addition, other cadre members will provide OPFOR coverage. Upon completion of the mission objectives, the students will exfil back to their camp, hand in all SR products, and receive a post mission debrief by intel personnel. The last third of this mission exercise will run into Day 2.

Day 2: Upon completion of the post mission debrief, the team will receive their next mission scenario and will be given approximately 12 hours to begin equipment and personnel recovery/refit, develop a work/rest cycle and go into mission planning. This starts the evaluation portion of the SR block.

Students will be given NLT times for their TL OPORD brief and mission departure time. The students will give their TL OPORD brief, provide a 6 part Folder to the STOC, and depart for their second SR mission. The second mission is approximately 30 hours in duration. Cadre observers will walk with the team(s) and will provide instructor assistance as required. In addition, other cadre members will provide OPFOR coverage.

Day 3: Students will continue to conduct Surveillance on the object. OPFOR activity will increase in the later portions of the day in order to facilitate react to contact drills, execution of 5 point contingency plans, etc.

Day 4: Students will receive orders to begin exfil shortly after 2400 hrs on Day 3. Students will collapse their OPs, conduct link up at the MSS, and exfil back to base camp. Upon arrival back at base camp, the students will hand in all SR products, and receive a post mission debrief by intel personnel. Students will then recover personnel and equipment and bed down for at least 8 hours. Students will then be woken up by cadre and will conduct day and night land navigation. Upon completion of the land navigation course, the students will bed-down for the night.

Day 5: Students will be woken up by cadre, tear down the base camp, and redeploy back to STTS where they will conduct equipment recovery, AARs, and prep for the next week of training.
