PART 2 – PRODUCTS:
2.1 EXPOSED AGGREGATE MATERIALS:
Exposed aggregates shall be washed and graded Colorado River natural gravel. Gravel graduation shall be from 1/4” to 3/4". The aggregate shall be structurally sound, dry, and of a uniform size as possible. The aggregate shall be clean, washed aggregate free from fines that would interfere with a finished surface of uniform appearance (maximum allowable is 1 percent). Aggregate shall be rounded and free from injurious amounts of organic impurities or clay. Maximum allowable amounts of deleterious substances is 3 percent.
2.2 ACCESSORY MATERIALS:

3.1 AGGREGATE EXPOSURE:
3.1.1 After concrete has been struck off and floated, evenly broadcast one-size coarse aggregate on the surface. Tamp aggregate particles into concrete until well embedded to insure being held securely during later treatment. A concrete mix design that includes the raised aggregate “Colorado River natural gravel” can be used if approved by the Contracting Officer.
3.1.2 When concrete has hardened enough to hold embedded particles firmly in place, gently broom, brush and flush excess mortar away until desired finish is obtained (appearance shall match sample panels and existing troopwalk/Goodfellow AFB standard).
3.1.3 Do not expose more than 30 percent of aggregate surface.
3.2 CURING:
The curing method and procedure should follow Specification SECTION 02511. The minimum curing period for exposed aggregate concrete shall be 7 days.
3.3 CLEANING:
