44. IFB Section __________ Paragraph _________ SOW/Technical Specification/Drawings paragraph/page Sheet AC-101 New Construction FN #11 & Specification Section 06 61 16
Question: Clarification is being requested on 2 items with respect to Sheet AC-101 New Construction FN #11: “Provide new custom solid surface on plywood counters and laminate on wood badging station, top and base cabinets as indicated.”
a) For bidding purposes should we assume that all counter tops are to be solid surface and all cabinets are laminate faced? The elevations and cross sections on AC-501, do not appear to clarify the true intent.
ANSWER: YES ALL WORK SURFACES ARE TO BE SOLID SURFACE ON
PLYWOOD AND ALL BASE AND TOP CABS ARE TO BE LAMINATE ON WOOD
b) The specification states that solid surface backsplashes are to be permanently attached at 90 degree angle to the countertop. Generally any note on splashes is for “Coved” splashes, which generally are typically only done at wet areas like behind the sinks in the break room or restrooms. The specifications also state that loose splashes are to be applied at the side splash locations. This again is normal for wet areas, but not so much elsewhere. Coved splashes are considerably more expensive. Do they want coved splashes at all locations, except return ends? If the front sign in desk is solid surface do they want a coved splash there as well?
ANSWER: PROVIDE COVED SPLASH AT BREAK ROOM COUNTER AND LOOSE
SPLASHES AT DRY LOCATIONS.
