Questions and Answers
27 Aug 2020
1. In order to prepare a price proposal, the number of items to be tracked is needed.
See revised topics.
2. In order to prepare a price proposal, the number of simultaneous users is needed to determine the number of handheld readers needed.
3. Can the Government confirm that the intent is for asset visibility within a facility (armory, warehouse, etc.) versus actual GPS location of issued equipment?
4. Please provide the number of potential entry and exit points for each facility.
5. With respect to the reference solicitation in the subject line, is the USAF seeking a prototype
RFI system or an entire RFI system from the $172K funding that is available?
6. Will there be multiple awards that go through a down selection process for a full system production?
There will not be multiple awards that go through a down selection process. A single contract award will be made for each topic. Each topic will be evaluated independently so the contract might not be necessarily made to a single vendor.
7. Is it expected that every item in the inventory will report its GPS position continuously (to be able to be tracked)? If yes, what network will it use to report the GPS position.
No, the system needs to track position as inside or outside facility, but not continuous location.

8. With the large number of tags added to the EAFB-003 addition we would like to clarify the definition of "Micro RFID tag". There is not a clear definition of the micro tag that is being specified. The micro tag definition in the RFID world includes a broad range of material and delivery (e.g., labels, ceramic, etc.). Given EAFB-003 is specifying 405,000 tags, this could be a substantial difference based on your requirements. The "micro" RFID metal based tag we generally use for weapons would not fit in the given budget. To be able to respond with the best possible offering, we need this information.
The term micro RFID tag term is a variety of larger, small, metal, plastic, and paper RFID tags that can be attached without jeopardizing the integrity of the unit such as a weapon.
