Security System for Building 228 Q&A from Site Visit
Site Visit held on 12 June 2012
In attendance at site visit:

1. Does the requirement include for the supply of heavy duty magnets for the doors?
Yes.
2. Is the contractor responsible for the electrical/conduit for the connection of buildings 225 and 228?
Yes. The contractor is to include in their proposal any costs associated with the hook-up and connection between Building 225 and 228.
3. Can the power be pulled off the existing circuit; is there a requirement for new circuits?
Yes, the power can be pulled from the existing circuit; new circuits are not required.
4. Note to contractors: Wireless communication is used from across the room to the roll-up door. The communication medium to the equipment throughout should be hard wired.
5. Will the government provide desk and tables for the computer room located in building
225?
Yes, the government will provide any desk and/or tables required to set-up computers for this room.
6. Is there a requirement for a monitor?
No; the government will provide the monitor. The SOW will be revised to remove this item from the specification list (please note that the contractor shall provide keyboard and mouse).
7. Does the government require exit covers?
No. The following specification has been removed from the SOW: STI Stopper Push to Exit Covers (STI 1130)
8. Is the Dynalock a stand alone system?
Yes, and includes the following items listed in the SOW specifications:
Dynalock 1200lb with DSM Dynalock 1200lb Slim for Storefront with Z bracket and DSM Dynalock 1200lb with DSM with Split Armature Dynalock 1200lb with DSM Delayed Egress
9. Does the governemnt require the Metasys computer be moved to Room 113 in Bldg. 225?
The contractor shall move the Metasys computer to the MAXxess computer server location.
10. Can the government provide more time for installation?
Yes; the contractor shall have 15 business days to complete installation once work has commenced. The SOW shall be updated to reflect this change.
11. Note to contractors: The deadline for response has been extended to 18 June 2012, 4:00
P.M. EDT.
12. 1 inch Ridged pipe between the buildings. Also will conduit will have to be grounded on both ends
The data line shall be run from Building 228 to 225. The conduit shall be at 1”, rigid.
The conduit shall be grounded at both ends of the run. This exterior conduit run shall be done in accordance to Robins standard.
13. Fire alarm interface by others. You're going to need a dry-contact off the fire system to drop power to the Power Supplies. Some doors have it now, some don't. What is currently being used is a mess and has never been tested. It consist of ice-cube relays just laying in the ceiling.
The new security system shall interface with the Building 228 fire alarm system. The doors shall unlock in case of a fire alarm.
14. Bld 225 Server will require APC UPS 1200Watt? Should we include this?
A 1200 watt uninterruptable power supply (UPS) shall be provided to power the Building 228 security server.
15. All new 120 volt power will not be dedicated circuits. We can pull off of existing branch circuits?
New electrical outlets may be run off existing 120V/20A electrical circuits.
16. Push buttons for door egress. They mentioned not using the ones that were in the specs due to the flip covers. They need to specify which ones their changing to.
The push buttons are not required to have flip covers. The flip covers may be deleted and the push button specification left as is.
17. Door contacts, One contractor said they were left out of the Specs ??
All door magnetic locks shall be replaced as a part of this project.
18. Specs say 10 days start to finish. That has been changed to 15 days after the connectivity is completed with the 1' ridged conduit between buildings.
Same as #11, the government has extended this to 15 days.
19. Recommend Server be located in Bld 228 and have a viewing client in Bld 225 for security reasons as Bld 228 is of High Security. Thoughts?
The Building 228 security system server shall be located in Building 225.
20. The Dorado readers should be a combo PROX/ Magstripe as Proxcards are the new standard for Bld 228. Thoughts?
The project requirement is for magstripe readers.
21. All bidders are to supply required switches and network cable to connect Bld 225 and
Bld 228 for secure network?
The contractor shall provide all switches and network cabling for the security system server to be located in Building 225.
