Questions and Answers:
Q1. I know we discussed the existing hardware and mini blinds but in going thru my notes I don’t see where we discussed removal and disposal of drapery. Is that required?
A1. The PWS and PR state “1.1. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, transportation, supervision and all other items and services necessary to measure, design, construct and install window treatments, included are minor wall preparation and repair, disposal of waste, old drapery and hardware off base . Work site is dormitory 1600 at Andrews AFB, MD”
Q2. Also, will contractor have to supply their own dumpster for this or can we use base disposal?
A2. Contractor supplies own waste removal—see Para 1.1
Q3. With the valances in the other areas, FR (Fire Retardant) Lining will be sufficient?
A3. FR Lining will be sufficient
Q4. What kind of blackout lining is appropriate?
A4. PWS para 2.1.4. …separate soft-suede blackout linings to block out sunlight in order to accommodate shift workers who sleep during the day. The drapery lining must hang independently from the finished drapery treatment. For ease of cleaning, drapery pleats that are either stack pleated, roll pleated, or accordion-type pleated are preferred. Pinch pleats are not acceptable.
