About this file

This file contains technical specifications for a generator and transfer switch replacement project for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) at the Michael Unit. The project involves replacing an existing emergency generator, automatic transfer switch, and docking station in Building 7, with a new 150 kW, 208/120VAC, 3-phase, 60 Hz generator and associated equipment. The specifications detail comprehensive technical requirements for a complete standby power system, including specific performance criteria, electrical characteristics, control systems, environmental conditions, and installation guidelines.

The equipment specifications call for a fully factory-assembled diesel-powered generator set with a microprocessor-based controller, integrated with a 600A automatic transfer switch. The generator must meet NFPA 110 standards for a Level 2 emergency system, comply with EPA emissions requirements, and include advanced monitoring and communication capabilities such as Wi-Fi connectivity, Modbus protocols, and extensive diagnostic features. The project includes a two-year warranty, requires manufacturer certification and testing, and mandates that the generator and transfer switch be provided as a complete package from the same manufacturer. The total project is identified with Maintenance Work Request (MWR) #03622028 and is specifically for the Michael Unit facility.
