Project: Judge Rice Courtroom Lighting Date: 6/5/2018 RFI Questions and Answers

- What is the performance period? 90 days performance period as stated in the RFP.

- How often would work stop do to loud noise? As directed in the courts. It does not happen very often, but it is important to note that court does take place on the same floor. All known loud activities should happen after hours.

- Dumpster location? The building will provide a space in the dock area big enough for one 30 yard dumpster. All other equipment the contractor wishes to be stored at the dock must fit in that foot print. No other space is available on the dock.

- Asbestos abatement? We are in the process of having materials above ceiling tested. If those results come back prior to the bid due date we will share. If not assume that no hazardous materials exist.

- Secondary site visit? Needs to be coordinated and would be an organized visit with all bidders requesting one on one.

- Projected start date? We are estimating the project award around 7/27/2018, with the onsite notice to proceed around 9/14/2018, giving time for security clearances and submittals between award and onsite NTP.

- Security clearance time frame? Typically 6 weeks for a full tier 1 clearance. There are other clearance options that have a shorter timeframe, but those are for people that will not be required to be onsite for the duration of the project.

- Contractor parking? Offsite parking for construction employees. No onsite parking will be provided. Drop offs at the dock for tools and materials are allowed.

- If a person is cleared with EPA is that compatible with GSA? Other agency badges are separate from GSA and will need to go through the GSA security clearance process.

People that are cleared with GSA will still need to submit a CIW to update their working record.

- Storage of material will be on project material? There is limited storage space in building.

The jury assembly room can be utilized for storage as long as it is returned to the exact condition it was at the start of the project.

- Is the courtroom humidified? As well as the rest of the building. No excess humidity has been found.

- Is the judge set on these fixtures? What is the basis of design so everyone is bidding the same? Any approved equal fixtures shall be submitted prior to bidding so everyone is bidding the same fixtures. Otherwise bid the basis of design fixture.

- What is the ADA height for the light switches? Should be in the specs, but leave that for construction.

- Artwork, who is the curator that could safely remove the artwork? The courts will contract the courts curator for the removal of the artwork. This is no longer in the contractor’s scope for this bid. The courts prefer Patterson Chase Co. Mark Steinke, Director of Marketing for Patterson Chase, 937-293-8766 (store), 937-269-7557 (cell)

- How far is it from the dock to the freight elevator? Approximately 150 feet

- Can the historical lamps be removed for protection versus building a box around them?Yes, but it will be the responsibility of the contractor to remove and protect throughout removal and reinstallation.

- Will the wood walls need to be protected throughout construction? Yes.

- What is the “control station” for lighting? Switch plate sized slave unit.

- Can the design rendering be shared to show final intent? Yes, they will be issued with question responses.

- Evening & Weekend Work, for Noise Activities and Other Allowed without additional cost to GSA. A change order for a price increase will not be allowed due to unexpected labor to occur after hours. Your proposed price should include the possibility of after-hours work.

- Bid Addressee is Johanna N? or Jordan W? If submitting electronically, email Jordan.waldschmidt@gsa.gov and CC johanna.nieves@gsa.gov. If submitting by US Mail, address to Jordan Waldschmidt.

- Please specify any light switches or receptacles that need to be moved, within walnut wood paneling, hopefully this will be considered and “as is” condition and not be required. All existing switch and outlet covers will remain as is unless noted otherwise in the construction documents.

- Will the government consider extending the bid date? Yes as required to inform all bidders of RFI answers. A formal notice will be sent out in that event.
