SR No 5187703 "Hi-Fog" or Equivalent Conceptual System Design

ABSTRACT

Contractor must provide basic design requirements for a Hi-Fog or equivalent “water mist fire suppression system” aboard TS Golden Bear that is approved by ABS and USCG. The awarded contractor must have prior working knowledge working with this type of fire suppression equipment and must provide an approximate cost for the installation of same. The primary objective is to supply MARAD and Ship’s Engineers with conceptual information and drawings with associated costs.

REFERENCE

Mechanical and electrical drawings for emergency power and freshwater tanks in the engine room aboard TS Golden Bear

GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT

Freshwater source as identified in the Engine Room

Emergency power supply in the Engine Room

LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

Location:

Engine Room and 04 Deck Level – 9 locations

Description:

Basic Scope of job to include but not limited to the following:

1) Design pump(s) and piping to connect to potable or distilled water tank selected by MARAD and Chief Engineer

Note: Pumps must be capable of reaching 04 Deck locations for Boilers and Incinerator

2) Design Electrical supply breaker and cables from Emergency Board to new Supply pump with local and remote stops

3) Design discharge piping and delivery equipment to selected locations in the engine room (9 locations)

• Two (2) each Diesel Main Engines

• Three (3) each Ship Service Diesel Generators

• Two (2) each Purifier locations

• Two (2) each boilers and one (1) incinerator on 04 after house deck

4) Design the fire control stations (local and remote) as approved by ABS and USCG

5) Provide the basic concepts of the operation of the system and how it must be operated.

6) Deliverables include conceptual drawings and associated costs to be used for budgetary and Statement of Work development for award to supply and install a new fire suppression system.

Note: Conceptual Drawings

This can be a basic one line schematic with major components indicated. It does NOT have to be a to-scale drawing. ABS/USCG approved Water Mist type fire suppression manufacturer’s drawings will suffice as might be applied to TS Golden Bear. Elevation differences should be indicated between pumps and locations

STATEMENT OF WORK

Contractor must have installed and/or done major retrofit of fire suppression systems aboard at least five ships within the last 15 years and must be an ABS approved contractor.

Contractor must be able to provide all of the concepts including needed installation of the electrical, pump and controls and fire suppression components and the interface with the ship’s freshwater tank and emergency power supply and fire safety equipment.

The conceptual drawings and costs associated with same must include, but is not limited to the following:

1) Pumps and piping to connect to potable or distilled water tank selected by MARAD and Chief Engineer

• Selected tank must include all modifications needed to hook up a pump as an example, needed penetration and piping and isolation valve from the tank to the pump set

• Type of pump set with controls for the Hi-Fog or equivalent system

• All suggested application must be comply with ABS/USCG requirements

2) Suggested Electrical supply breaker MCC EP404 (100 amp) Emergency Board to new Supply pump with local and remote stops

• Concept must include all connections, cables and supports and interconnections needed to power the pump set and the controls from the dedicated emergency power supply

• All conceptual electrical work must be done according to the ABS/USCG requirements

3) Conceptual discharge piping to nine (9) locations

• Show all needed piping, valves, nozzles and devices necessary per the ABS/USCG requirements

• Show examples of how all delivery devices might be mounted

4) Show conceptual fire control station(s) as required by ABS and USCG

• Local and remote operation

5) Provide whatever tests are required for regulatory

• ABS and USCG testing requirements to prove that the system functions per design and by approved drawings

• If a live test is required, what protection needed and how the test might be conducted and supported like water collection and protection of adjacent equipment

6) Provide what Deliverables might be include all prints and instruction books to show "As Built" conditions

DELIVERABLES

Conceptual drawings with estimated associated costs

• Two (2) sets of Hard Copy drawings with listed costs

• Electronic copies for COR, CE Davidson and CE Coyle and CM John Finch and

Captain Bolton
