GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT / MATERIAL / SERVICES

Falk T41 Controlled Torque Coupling and Clutch (needs to be bored to fit CT Winch)

Provide all labor, materials, and services to perform the following:

All dimensions are estimated.

Contractor is responsible for ship checking and verifying dimensions prior to bid submission and notice to proceed.

Reduction Gear – Gearbox

Suggested approach is to remove the Gearbox-Shaft-Rope Drum complete to the shop for repairs as previous year’s repairs to similar equipment required extensive shop work. The following are the suggested steps if the Contractor chooses to dismantle the winch aboard the ship:

· Support the Wire Drum before removing the shaft attached to the gearbox

· Build a support to slide the Gearbox aft far enough to remove the shaft/gearbox and rope drum assembly from the ship

· Supply an A-frame with enough strength and dimensions to support the rope drum and shaft and gearbox and rig it out of position and back into position

· Open and inspect the forward steady bearing supporting the shaft on the side opposite the rope drum and gearbox. Renew Bearing if damaged

· Rig Shaft-Gearbox and Rope Drum to shop for dismantling and repairs

· Reverse the process for reassembly

Open Reduction Gear Casing for inspection. Drain oil and clean out sump. Make available for ABS inspection.

Notes:

· Gear Box casing socket head bolts are corroded and may require alternate methods of removal. These were set with Loctite on the forward winch repaired 2014. That job required the bolts to be machined off

· Wire Drum bushing and greasing arrangement was bad on forward winch done 2014. This should be checked once the winch is opened and inspected. The previous job required a new bearing to be made and new grease ports installed.

Motor Service:

Motor shall be removed from foundation, rigged from ship and delivered to contractor facility and/or electric motor service shop for repairs.

Electro-magnetic brake assembly shall be dismounted from motor and serviced separately as described in next section.

Note:

Contractor to make allowances for blasting and cleaning the motor, which is heavily coated with paint, during the disassembly process to allow for ease of motor disassembly.

Disassemble motor to clean, dip and bake windings.

Open and Inspect to verify that motor shaft run out, radial play and end thrust are within manufacturer’s tolerances.

Perform insulation resistance test.

Report findings to COTR and Chief Engineer during their shop inspection when the motor is opened and has been surveyed. Include findings in final report.

Renew connector pigtails making sure to renew lead tags.

Renew motor heater and Electro-Brake heater if found to be failed

Balance Rotor.

Replace bearings with new sealed bearings and reassemble motor with plugs in grease connections.

Perform post service insulation resistance test.

Reinstall Electro-magnetic brake and adjust as described in Manufacturers technical manual.

Return to vessel, rig aboard, reinstall and align to Input Pinion.

Alignment shall be performed by laser or reverse dial indicator method.

Electro-Magnetic Brake:

Disassemble clean and inspect previously dismounted Electro-magnetic Brake.

Diagnostically check coil assembly.

Free up seized manual release.

Inspect Friction Discs and Magnetic Plate for wear and submit report on potential replacement.

Upon reassembly, remount to motor and perform all adjustments spelled out in manufactures technical manual.

Controlled Torque Coupling and Clutch.

Renew Controlled Torque Coupling and Clutch using Ship’s spare. Shop or contractor will have to machine coupling to fit motor and the pinion drive for the gearbox. Supply ship with replacement coupling assembly for ship’s spare used.

After installation, perform all run-in and clearance adjustments as spelled out in the manufacturer’s technical manual.

NOTES

Contractor may use the ship’s after crane to remove the whole CT Winch Assembly from the ship and send to shop versus disassembly aboard the ship

DELIVERABLES
