CA FTNP SEKI 10(10) Questions/Answers

April 26, 2017

1) Question: After careful review of the FedBizOpps website for this project, I’m have troubling locating the Gauge for Bid Items #60201-0800 through 60201- 1200.

Response: See plan sheet T2, Standard 602-1 for allowable pipe thicknesses.

2) Question: Can you also advise the lining material for Bid Item 60707-0500 through 60707-0700 Response: As per SCR subsection 607.01 the pipe lining method must meet either a standard ASTM and/or AWWA specification.

3) Question: There are no special provisions to detail if the Bridge Railing steel is to be galvanized, painted or stained?

Response: The bridge railing material requirements are included on plan sheets S37 and S40. As per plan sheet S37: Steel for rail posts, base plates, shims, splice sleeves, and anchor assembly plates shall conform to ASTM A588.

Structural tubing for rails shall conform to ASTM A847. W-beam shall conform to ASSHTO M180, Type IV (corrosion resistant), Class B (10 Gage).

4) Question: The guardrail is called out to be corrosion resistant steel with the buried portion of steel posts galvanized. We have never done this in California.

We have also used a Natina stain on all Federal Highway projects we have seen and worked on over the last several years in California. Please confirm that Natina Stain is not desired?

Response: Yes, the guardrail is called out as corrosion resistant steel as per FP- 03 Subsection 617.01. Yes, as per SCR Subsection 617.01, use 8 foot corrosion resistant steel for all guardrail posts. Posts will be galvanized for the length to be buried. As per SCR Subsection 617.05, paint terminal sections brown in color.

Natina stain is not required.

5) Question: Do you have a contact number for RV Terrace specified in 107.11?

Are there trailer pads available?

Response: Trailer Pads at the RV Terrace are under construction and will not be available for contractor use.
