About this file

This file consists of design drawings for a water main rehabilitation project in the City of Seattle and City of Shoreline, Washington. The project, designated as Water Main Rehab Package 6 - North (PW# 2024-054), is a comprehensive utility infrastructure improvement involving the Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). The project encompasses five distinct locations: NW 201st Street and 18th Avenue NW in Shoreline; 24th Avenue NW from NW 196th Street to NW 197th Street in Shoreline; Woodlawn Avenue N from N 63rd Street to N 65th Street and Meridian Avenue N in Seattle; 8th Avenue NE from NE 55th Street to NE 60th Street in Seattle; and Roosevelt Way NE and NE 55th Street in Seattle. The work includes abandonment of existing water mains; installation of new ductile iron water main pipe ranging from 4 to 12 inches in diameter through open-trench methods; installation of 2-inch diameter copper water main pipe via trenchless moling; storm drainage improvements; pressure regulating station installation with associated discharge piping and SCADA monitoring at the NW 201st Street site; water main connections and service transfers; and final surface restoration including ADA curb ramp improvements. The engineer's estimate for the project is $5,823,000.

The project is classified as a Covered Project subject to the City of Seattle's Community Workforce Agreement and Priority Hire ordinance SMC 20.37, which mandates equity-focused hiring and contracting practices. All work must conform to the 2023 Edition of City of Seattle Standard Specifications and Standard Plans, and the contractor must obtain all required permits prior to construction commencement. The design drawings specify detailed survey control information, utility locations, construction sequencing requirements, stormwater and erosion control measures, tree protection protocols, and demolition specifications. Pre-construction meetings with SDOT are mandatory, and the contractor must coordinate with multiple utility providers including Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy, and King County Metro. Construction stormwater and erosion control plans, material source forms, and mix designs for asphalt, concrete, and aggregates require submission and approval prior to beginning work. All water main pressure testing and disinfection must occur in the presence of an SPU resident engineer, and water service relocations and transfers will be performed by SPU with contractor assistance.
