DRAFT STATEMENT OF WORK

VERTICAL LAUNCHING SYSTEM

Module Deck Structure

1. INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, Measurement Science & Engineering Department, Interface Engineering & Assessment Division Module Deck Structure for the MK41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) is used to support different module configurations on various Navy ships.

2. BACKGROUND

The Deck Structure (D/S) is a major component used to support the MK41 VLS for different module configurations on various Navy Ships. The D/S supports the canister launching system that provides rapid-fire launch capabilities.

Each D/S supports missile-launching system that consists of a single eight-cell missile module, capable of launching various missiles used against aircrafts, missiles, and surface units. The module consists of an upright structure that provides vertical storage space for eight (8) missile canisters. The D/S is a major component to the mounting mechanism for the module and ship integration on various fleet. It supports a deck and hatch assembly at the top of the module; protecting the missile canisters during storage and the plenum/uptake structure that capture and vent missile exhaust gases up to the module and through the hatch.

3. SCOPE

The scope of this effort is to procure up to 20 Module Deck Structures for the MK41 VLS.
