d. A 663 (WY8M)
e. A 863 (WY9M)
f. A1063 (WY10M)
4 Design and Manufacturing Requirements
4.1 Type
a. The tandem mounted air switches and associated grounding switch, specified in 6.6, shall be three-pole, single-throw, group-operated devices.
b. The single air switches shall also be three-pole, single-throw group operated devices.
4.2 Terminals
The air switch shall be equipped to accept a 4-inch by 4-inch NEMA-standard terminal pad with both NEMA four hole and two hole patterns on switch center line at both hinge and jaw ends, suitable for terminal connectors on both pad surfaces. Copper terminal pads, if any, shall be tin plated to 0.001 inch.
4.3 Arcing Horns
All switches shall be furnished with the manufacturer’s standard arcing horns and tips.
4.4 Insulator Strength
All insulators supplied shall be standard strength unless stronger insulators are specified or required by supplier’s design. Also all insulators shall be gray in color and in accordance with ANSI Standards C29 and/or NEMA publication No. HV1 for high-voltage insulators.
4.5 Mounting Hardware and Other Equipment
The switch shall be shipped complete with mounting hardware, operating linkage, and all other parts required for installation and successful operation on the structure shown on the drawings specified in 6.3. This is to include new galvanized steel members to support the operating handle mechanisms, mechanical/key interlocks and vertical operating shaft guides as required. The mounting hardware, leveling method and operating linkage shall be designed so they can be easily bolted (not welded) to the steel structure. The leveling method shall be designed to use a screw-jack principle or shims to provide accurate leveling of the installed air switch.
4.6 Switch Interlocks
A mechanical interlocks shall be provided for the selector/tandem switches so the main blades and ground blades mounted on the same switch base cannot be closed at the same time. The mechanical interlock shall be of the type that is automatically positioned by the relative positions of the operating mechanisms. A chain type or cable type of mechanical interlock is not acceptable.
4.7 Conformance to Western Standard
The rest of the design and manufacturing requirements will comply with Western Equipment Specification WAPA ES 8.1 Disconnect and Interrupter Switches.
5 Drawings and Other Information
The supplier shall provide to the engineering document control person named in the terms and conditions of the attached solicitation DE-SOL-0007306 and 6.1.2 of the Specification per WAPA ES 8.1, pages 8.1-7 to 8.1-9 and an instruction book shall be attached to the air switch in a waterproof envelope. AutoCAD drawings up to version 2013 or Word or Excel documents will be considered acceptable.
