MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Justification for the Purchase and Installation of 44 Desks for Soldier Recovery Unit Civilian Staff and Cadre
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to justify the purchase and installation of 44 new desks for the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) civilian staff and cadre. The current desks, which are over ten years old, have degraded to a point where they are no longer functional or up to standard. This purchase aims to enhance ergonomic efficiency and improve overall work efficiency within the unit.
2. Scope:
a. This request covers the replacement of 44 desks currently used by the SRU’s civilian staff and cadre. The existing desks have been subjected to frequent moves, resulting in significant wear and tear, with many desks broken or missing essential parts. The new desks will be ergonomically designed to support the health and well-being of the staff, reduce the risk of work-related injuries, and align with current office standards, thereby enhancing the overall workspace environment.
3. Procedures:
a. The current desks’ condition negatively impacts staff productivity and well- being, necessitating immediate replacement. The new desks will provide improved ergonomic efficiency, enabling staff to perform their duties more comfortably and effectively. The investment in new desks will result in long-term benefits, including reduced absenteeism due to ergonomic- related health issues and higher staff retention rates, ultimately benefiting both the Soldier and the Army.
