MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1.1 The contractor shall provide two (2) dcPD systems which shall meet the following technical specifications:
1.1.1 The dcPD systems must measure voltage differences with microvolt resolution between two opposing wires welded to a defect in a mechanical test specimen, and compute the depth of the defect in the test specimen. The dcPD system shall utilize this defect depth and accompanying specimen information entered into its own external software (which shall run on the same computer that operates the hydraulic test frame) to command the actions of an MTS hydraulic load frame in order to conduct fatigue and fracture experiments with sensitivity to defect depth.
1.1.1.1 The dcPD system software shall be provided via compact disc.
1.1.2 The dcPD systems shall contain a control and data acquisition system that has the capability to apply a constant current of up to 6 amps through a mechanical test specimen and, in turn, measure microvoltage difference between two opposing wires situated around a defect in a mechanical test specimen.
1.1.2.1 The control and data acquisition system and the adjoining dcPD components/software shall be compatible with Mechanical Testing Systems (MTS) FlexTest hardware and MTS Station Manager software in order to externally command an MTS hydraulic load frame and conduct fatigue and fracture experiments.
1.1.3 The dcPD system shall be capable of reversing the amplified voltage signal with stability of 0.005% °C
1.1.4 The dcPD systems shall have the necessary software to enable fatigue crack growth rate as well as non-linear fracture toughness testing to be conducted through coordinated use of the dcPD system in external command of the MTS hydraulic load frame.
1.1.5 The dcPD system shall have a variable amplitude capability to enable more complex fatigue testing based on complex fatigue cycle schedules.
