About this file
This document is Amendment No. 1 to AHCA Contract No. HQA023, an agreement between the State of Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and Maximus Federal Services, Inc. The amendment, executed in December 2017, replaces the original Attachment I with a new Attachment I-A, which details the scope of services for a third-party claim dispute resolution entity.
The contract establishes Maximus Federal Services as a qualified independent third-party entity to assist contracted and non-contracted health care providers and health care plans in resolving claims disputes in accordance with Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes. The vendor will operate a toll-free assistance line, review claim dispute submissions within 10 days, issue recommendations within 60 days, and provide monthly reports to the agency. The contract is structured as a no-cost agreement, with review fees varying based on case complexity and paid by the non-prevailing party. Maximus is required to maintain specific operational standards, including interpreter services, call center availability from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, and an emergency operations plan.
