About this file

This document is a Railroad Change Order issued by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to Florida Midland Railroad Company, involving a railroad crossing improvement project in Polk County, Florida. The change order references a Master Grade Crossing Traffic Control Devices Agreement dated 2/19/1988 and involves District One of FDOT's Rail Office, with the specific project located near Lake Wales.

The change order authorizes the installation of a new PMD-4, shunt enhancers, and remote at Crossing No. 627527S (RRMP AVC 846.25) with a total cost of $32,718.00. FDOT will pay for the material, while Florida Midland Railroad will cover all other associated costs. The work includes modifying Item 15 of the original Master Agreement to make the Railroad responsible for 100% of Signal Maintenance. The project is part of a broader effort to upgrade train detection and crossing safety, with the change order referencing a field review from 04/22/2019 that recommended a low-cost upgrade to the crossing's signal and detection systems.
