About this file
This is a certification document regarding investments in Iran, issued under Maryland State Finance and Procurement law (17-701 through 17-707, Annotated Code of Maryland). The document establishes eligibility requirements for all vendors seeking to participate in procurements with State agencies and public bodies in Maryland. The certification applies only to new contracts and contract renewals, not to existing contracts already in place. Vendors must certify that they are not identified on the Board of Public Works' Investment Activities in Iran list and are not engaging in investment activities in Iran as defined by state law.
"Engaging in investment activities in Iran" is defined as either providing goods or services valued at $20 million or more in Iran's energy sector, or, in the case of financial institutions, extending credit of $20 million or more for at least 45 days to another person on the Investment Activities In Iran list who will use that credit to provide goods or services in Iran's energy sector. Companies listed on the Investment Activities In Iran list and their parent companies, successors, subunits, direct or indirect subsidiaries, or entities under common ownership or control are all ineligible to bid on, submit proposals for, or renew contracts with State agencies or public bodies. The certification form requires the signature and date of an authorized representative and a witness, with an option for the signatory to provide explanation if unable to make the required certification.
