National Academy of Sciences/Institute of Medicine Roundtable Publications: Value & Science-Driven Health Care

Scope of Work for Purchase Order March 14, 2016

Background/Purpose

The purpose of this purchase order is to support the production of and acquire Roundtable Publications, including Workshop Summaries and Discussion Papers, from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS)/ Institute of Medicine (IOM). CMS leaders will acquire scientifically-informed independent analyses and objective science policy advice through these publications. The publications provide information for CMS to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, economy, and quality of services rendered to CMS beneficiaries.

Requirements This purchase order requests Roundtable products. Roundtable publications come in various forms, principally Workshop Summaries, Discussion Papers, and Commentaries. Workshop Summaries are formal, peer-reviewed summary manuscripts published by the National Academies. These comprise most of the 17 summary publications from the Roundtable’s Learning Health System Series workshops. Discussion Papers are expert-authored papers that address key issues in value and science-driven health care. Commentaries are short op-ed style pieces that provide leading experts the opportunity to offer their observations and opinions on innovations and challenges in health and health care. Below are examples of CMS’ previously requested Roundtable products. Commentaries are released bi-weekly. New authors are identified on a rolling basis. The schedule for September 2015 – September 2016 is yet to be determined.
