About this file
This purchase description outlines requirements for an in-vivo mini-endoscopic imaging system for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. The system must have dual color capabilities for simultaneous imaging of distinct cell populations, single-cell resolution, compatibility with in vivo behavioral testing and deep brain structure imaging using GRIN lenses. The salient characteristics include these capabilities as well as data processing software and a one-year warranty. Delivery within 30-60 days of order is required to the specified NIH address, along with installation and training by an OEM certified technician within 30 days of delivery. Consideration must be given to trading in an existing nVoke 2.0 system.

Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
Title: Inscopix nVue 2.0 System or Equal with Trade-In
1. Statement of Need and Purpose:
The purpose of this requirement is to procure a quantity of one (1) Inscopix nVue 2.0 system or equal in-vivo mini-endoscopic imaging system for the Laboratory of Circuits, Synapses, and Molecular Signaling (LCSMS) within the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), Division of Intramural Research (DIR). An in-vivo mini-endoscopic imaging system capable of imaging in dual colors is needed for NINDS principal investigators (PIs) and scientific staff to label distinct cell populations and visualize/quantify activity of distinct cell-types for its ongoing intramural research studies.
2. Background Information and Objective:
The NINDS, which is an Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease for all people.
The main goals of the LCSMS are to investigate the neural mechanisms and circuits underlying neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Accordingly, in-vivo imaging experiments are an integral part of this goal. The purchase of an imaging system with dual color will allow the laboratory to simultaneously examine the activity of multiple different cell populations in conjunction with behavioral testing.
To advance the laboratory’s research objectives and goals, it requires a dual-color imaging system capable of being used in-vivo simultaneously with behavioral monitoring.
An in-vivo, mini-endoscopic imaging system capable of imaging in deep brain structures will allow the LCSMS investigators to image two distinct cell-types simultaneously with single-cell resolution in brain regions of interest to the laboratory. This includes imaging calcium dynamics of labeled cell populations, (i.e., static labeling of a cell population followed by dynamic imaging of calcium activity) and conducting dynamic imaging of two cell populations (i.e., imaging calcium dynamics in conjunction with fluorescent biosensors).
