1. PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This project connects Shadow Bay Campground to an underground water supply (well) removing the current surface water source (Waldo Lake) to provide a safer water supply. This is an update to the existing OHA public water system #4192815 records.

B. The work of this Contract includes all labor and materials required to:

1. Drill and develop new water well (100 feet minimum depth producing a minimum 20 gpm of water).

2. Install pitless adapter in well.

3. Construct concrete pad with Transenclosure over well.

3. Install new submersible pump in well.

4. Install water level transducer in well.

5. Retrofit pump controls in water system building from removed wet well submersible pump to operate well submersible pump.

6. Install water level display (stand-alone unit) display connected to transducer in well.

7. Install water pipe with power cable and transducer cable in joint trench between from well to water system building.

8. Cap and abandon the existing Waldo Lake surface water inlet pipe, remove submersible pump, fill and abandon pump wet well.

C. New site work (outside of water system building to depth of well pump) piping and electrical wiring will be paid by actual quantities (AQ) installed depending on actual well location and depth verified with CO.

D. All materials and construction shall be in accordance with this SOW, Plans / Details, Project Specifications and/or the manufacturer’s recommendations; Federal, State, and local building codes; and industry standards. In the event of discrepancies between these requirements, the most stringent requirements shall apply, unless otherwise approved in writing by the Contracting Officer.

E. This project shall require construction by an Oregon of State licensed plumbing / electrical contractor and all aspects shall comply with the Oregon Administrative Rules for Well Construction issued by the Oregon Water Resources Department.

F. Contractors are strongly encouraged to visit this project site prior to submitting their bid to verify the details of the scope of work, including the location of the project and proposed improvements, existing conditions, vehicle maneuver clearances, actual distances, feasibility of the work as described, etc. Coordinate site visits with USFS Middle Fork Ranger Station - Recreation Department: Chloe Goldade-Holbrook

(541) 782-5230. All project / contract questions shall only be addressed to the Contracting Officer.

G. This project site is accessible by wheeled vehicle but is not open for public access. The Contractor shall keep existing gate(s) closed and locked or provide temporary vehicle barriers /chains / cables to prevent

5/19/2020 Shadow Bay Campground Water Well Page 3 of 29 public vehicle access when contractor is not on-site if well head is not yet sealed/secured or there are safety, or potential hazards to public.

1.04 DESIGN HYDRAULIC INFORMATION.

A. Existing Hydraulic Conditions shown are from available records and may not represent all improvements. Assigned elevation benchmark. Need to field verify.

Existing Pump at Waldo Lake STA 80+87 EL = 1113.5 Existing Generator/Chlorinator STA 74+87 EL = 1150 Storage Tank Entrance STA 29+60 EL = 1297 Storage Tank Full STA 29+60 EL = 1311

B. Piping.

3” PVC Pipe between lake and Water System Building.

3” PVC Pipe between Water System Building to Storage Tank.

C. Existing 30,000 gallon concrete storage tank.

D. Design water demand and flow calculation for Shadow Bay CG.

Shadow Bay CG has 96 camping spaces x 3 people per space average = 288 people.

FSH 7409.11 Water Consumption 20-30 gpd per person (Camping w/flush toilets)

Average Daily Water Demand 20gpd x 288 people =5,760 gpd

Average Daily Flow 5,760 gpd / 24 hours per day / 60 minutes per hour = 4 gpm

Peak Daily Flow 4 gpm x 5 (peak factor) = 20 gpm

E. Pump Hydraulic Calculations. Field Verify Elevations along with Well Log to draw down pumping level and distance to well. Complete Total Dynamic Head (TDH) with Pump submittal.

Partial Data:

Static Head =

161 feet elevation difference. Top of storage tank inlet to top of well (surface elevation near well).

Dynamic Head

4,527 feet 3-inch PVC pipe from water system building to storage tank.

5/19/2020 Shadow Bay Campground Water Well Page 14 of 29

Preliminary Pump Selection: Top of storage tank inlet - surface elevation near well = 161 feet. Allows for 139 feet of additional TDH (field verify measurements) for selected 20 gpm 300 TDH pump.
